The Mike Town Memorial Fund

Continuing Mike's musical legacy in Patterdale and beyond.

For the past 20+ years Mike has been in the forefront of music in Patterdale.  As Director of Music, he was not only an accomplished organist who played regularly for services, weddings and funerals; he gave organ recitals and drew on his huge circle of musician friends to provide a regular series of summer music concerts of all genres.  He supported young players enabling them to perform.

We are all grateful for his years of service and for the leadership he gave in funding and the organising of the major refurbishment of our exceptional small William Hill organ and its ongoing maintenance.

In recognition of his invaluable contribution to the life of the Dale and beyond, the Church Council of St Patrick’s, Patterdale have set up a restricted fund the purpose of which is to support

• the provision of music in the Church and the Dale

• provide for the continued maintenance of our exceptional organ

• fund local young musicians, particularly in forwarding their scholarship

The fund will be supported through donations at concerts and also through the benevolence of Mike’s many friends in Patterdale and throughout the world.
